PRODUCTION OF THE WEBSITE

Apart from Jules social media page on instagram, I decided to also create a professional official website. I used wix to produce it as I already knew how everything worked, speeding up the process. Music artists can reach various audiences and meet various demands by having both an official website and an Instagram account. In contrast to an official website, which offers a more polished and complete platform for exhibiting the artist's work, Instagram is a terrific method to interact with followers on a more intimate level. I tried to keep the same vintage-aesthetic and nude colour palette as my other products, following my artist's “brand identity”. The official website of an artist is a formal platform that allows them to showcase their work, provide more detailed information about their music, and sell merchandise and tickets for shows. It's a centralised hub where fans can find everything they need to know about the artist and their work in one place. I was inspired by the website of some musicians such as Conan Gray, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift. All of them have very different and unique designs and layouts, however they all have a tour, shop, music and newsletter section. I included all of these in my website, as well as my music video and digipak. As I had previously taken a photo shoot for the posts in instagram I had a wide variety of images to place in the background of each page. This also allowed me to create a close link between the instagram feed and Jules official website.

I started off by producing a tour poster for 2024, adding all the dates and locations in the USA. The burnt film overlay was an effect I included in my music video, therefore I thought it would be coherent and appropriate to also include this in the poster. It contrasts with the white and black photo in the background, making it stand out and catch the viewers attention. This tour section allowed me to establish a professional image and shows that Jules is serious about her live performances. It also provides a centralised hub for fans to find information about the artist's touring schedule, rather than having to search for information on third-party ticketing sites. In order to create a sense of community among fans I also added a merchandise section with items such as t-shirts, sweaters and bags. It took me a long time to produce all the designs as well as the cd and vinyl covers, however, merch is a significant source of revenue for artists, particularly when it comes to touring, therefore it was a fundamental section I needed to add in my website. I had more difficulties and complications with the music section as I had only produced the music video for one of the songs in my digipak. This meant I had to link the songs back to spotify rather than to the official music video on youtube. In order to keep fans informed I also provided a newsletter where they can be informed about Jules latest news, upcoming shows, and new releases. I included a link to Jules instagram feed and youtube channel all throughout the website cross-converging all of my products. I noticed the bottom section of each official website I researched not only contained links to other social media platforms, but also a section with help, terms privacy and cookie choices. I therefore decided to also include this in every page of my website.
