LOCATION
RECONNAISSANCE

1 setting

I want to use this location for all of the scenes in the first half of the music video. This old setting has a unique aesthetic appeal that can make the music video more visually interesting and memorable. It is a versatile location for shooting my video as it provides a range of different settings and backdrops, different rooms, and different levels of the house. Additionally, it requires minimal set dressing and decoration, as I will be making use of the existing features and decor inside the vintage house  to create the desired look and feel. This old house has unique features such as intricate mouldings, antique furnishings, and historical artefacts that can add visual interest to the video, making it more visually engaging and memorable. It is also a cost-effective option as this house belongs to a friend of my family therefore it is much cheaper than other filming locations, such as studios or other commercial spaces. Another key advantage shooting in this setting has is the flexibility in terms of scheduling and timing. As I do not have to rent the location, I am able to go there and film at a time which is convenient for everyone involved in the music video.

In relation to access restrictions, there are some areas of the house which are off-limits or unsafe for crew and performers. This limits the areas where I can film and requires careful planning and coordination to ensure everyone's safety.  Before filming in this old house, I need to ensure there are no other potential safety hazards such as unstable floors or walls.  In order to overcome any of these problems or ensure against any danger, I will make sure everyone is aware of these dangerous locations and therefore will not film anything there.

2 setting

I have decided to film the second half of my music video in the countryside. This setting offers a diverse range of locations, each with its own unique look and feel. This can allow for the creation of a varied and dynamic music video. The natural scenery, such as mountains, forests, rivers, and fields, can provide a beautiful backdrop. The sight of rolling fields and lush greenery will help create a sense of serenity and peacefulness, which is what I am trying to convey in these scenes. Fields offer plenty of open space to shoot and experiment with different camera angles and shots. This can allow for a larger scope in the music video, creating a sense of grandeur and vastness. In relation to the lighting, I will not need any extra flashes or artificial sources of light as I can use natural light to create different moods and atmospheres.  The way the light hits the natural landscape can create a beautiful effect on camera. This setting can offer a variety of colours and textures, including golden wheat, bright wildflowers, and green grass. These natural elements can be used to create a visually stunning colour palette in the music video. Shooting in the countryside also means that there will be fewer distractions, and therefore have more privacy to focus on the creative process without worrying about onlookers or interruptions. There are no members of the public present making it an ideal location for my shoot.

However, the countryside also has a lot of disadvantages such as the distance it has from Madrid. In order to get to the field I am planning on using, I have to take a car drive of two hours, meaning if there are any complications I will not be able to reshoot. I also have to plan the dates very well, making sure everyone is available for the whole shooting weekend. The countryside requires more logistical planning and coordination, such as transportation, accommodations, and permits. It is not easily accessible, which makes it much more difficult for crew and talent to get to the shoot. This will also limit the number of locations available to shoot in. Shooting in the countryside also requires special consideration for wildlife and environmental concerns. This includes issues such as disturbing wildlife habitats, damaging natural resources, or violating local regulations. This setting could make it more challenging to achieve the desired quality of the music video as I will have limited resources available such as equipment rentals, production studios, and access to specialised materials. The weather in the countryside can be unpredictable, making it more difficult to shoot in adverse weather conditions. This could cause delays or result in a lower-quality video if the weather conditions are not optimal. I will produce a very thorough plan before reaching the date of the shooting in order to control all of these possible problems.
