SPOTIFY PLAYLIST

In order to decide the final song for my music video I created a Spotify playlist with all the songs I had in mind. Most of them are from the Indie Pop genre. Creating this playlist allowed me to put all my ideas together, listen to all the songs one after another and choose the one that best fits my intentions. By doing this I found out that the songs that mostly interested me were from the artist Lana del rey. I discarded all the ones which had a male voice singing them as I wanted to use a female actress, and her to lip sing the song. As my idea is to create a music video about failed love relationships, I am interested in the female's point of view of this situation. I am a woman, making it easier for me to portray this feeling through my music video. I wanted to select a song that was not so known in order to make my music video the first interaction the audience has with it. This would create a long lasting effect in their minds, making them remember my music video when they listen to that particular song.

As Lana del Rey is a worldwide artist, most of her songs are global hits which all of us have listened to at least once. Initially I was interested in the songs “born to die”, “beautiful people, beautiful problems” and “pretty when you cry”. I discarded all of these because they are part of her biggest singles.

I finally decided to produce a music video for Lana del Rey’s song “Get Free”. I truly love this song and it fits perfectly the narrative and storyline of a failed love relationship.
